When you format the cell background in Excel, the cell gridlines are no longer visible.
To see the gridlines again, you will have to re-sort to using borders.
Select the cell area that needs gridlines and on the Home tab in the Font group, from the Borders dropdown, select All Borders.
To get the borders to be a similar colour to the gridlines, from the Borders dropdown, select More Borders. The Format Cells dialog box with the Borders tab uppermost will be displayed.
From the Color dropdown, select White, Background 1, Darker 25%. Click OK.
